What You’re Paying For

You’re not paying for just strings. You’re paying for:

  • Every racquet strung by the same person, so the job is the same every time
  • Direct communication with the stringer, from drop-off to pickup
  • A Gamma Progression II electronic constant-pull machine that holds tension steady through the whole job
  • A finished string bed measured with an ERT 300 dynamic tension meter, so the tension you asked for is the tension you got
  • No membership and no club fees
  • No shipping your racquet across the country and waiting a week

I string every racquet myself. The person you email, the person you meet at drop-off, and the person who strings your racquet are the same person.

What happens to your racquet

Old strings removed and discarded
Frame inspected before stringing starts

What you get for the price

★★★★★
I wanted to buy my granddaughter a racket for her senior season at Staley. She had her eye on a racket that Belle's doesn't carry but Mr. Goering advised me on the best place to order her racket. Once we had it, he asked her questions about her game and offered her choices of color on the recommended strings. She is very happy with how it looks and plays and hopefully will lead to a successful season. Very happy with Belle's at every step of the way

Questions About the Process

Everything you need to know before you book

How does drop-off and pickup work?

When you book, you choose a convenient Northland meetup spot from a list of Kansas City Northland QuikTrip locations. I meet you at your scheduled time, confirm your racquet details, and take it for stringing. Once it's done, I contact you to arrange pickup, usually at the same place you dropped it off.

Do you meet outside the Kansas City Northland?

Belle's serves the Kansas City Northland. Drop-off and pickup happen at a Northland QuikTrip you choose when you book.

If you're outside the Northland, meeting me at one of those locations is the normal arrangement and you pay normal pricing. That keeps next-day and same-day on the table.

If you need me to come to you, message me before you book. I'll quote it based on my schedule and route that day. It isn't guaranteed, and turnaround may be slower since the standard windows are built around the Northland meetup pattern. If I can't make it work, I'll tell you before the racquet changes hands.

How do I pay?

When your racquet is ready, I send you an invoice you can pay online. I accept all major credit cards. No deposits required.

How long does stringing take?

Most racquets are ready within 2-3 days. That covers the drop-off meet, a stringing slot in the week, and the return trip.

Same-day service is available when I pick up your racquet before 10 am. You get it back by 6 pm that evening at the meeting location.

If I pick up after 10 am, next day is the fastest option. Rush and express pricing is in the table above.

Go ahead and book. Same-day depends on my schedule, my travel that day, the condition of the racquet, and string availability if you're using mine. I'll confirm same-day is a go, or tell you the fastest real option, before I take the racquet.

You're welcome to borrow a Solinco demo racquet at no charge while yours is being strung.

Do I need to know what string I want?

No. If you liked how your racquet played before, I can match your existing setup. If you want to change strings or aren't sure, I can help you choose based on your racquet, playing level, and goals.

What if you don't carry the string I want?

Go ahead and book. I stock Solinco, Gosen, Wilson, and Head. Once you're on the calendar, tell me what you're using or want. I'll confirm before I take your racquet: I have it, I can order it, or here's something close and why.

Ordering adds a few days. Most people take that over a substitute, and it means I've inspected the string and stand behind it.

If you already own the set and want it installed, I'll do that. Full unopened set, and I'll look it over before I take the racquet. I don't install string that's been sitting for years. It goes brittle whether or not the package was ever opened, and it can fail on the machine.

Can I bring my own string?

Yes, if it's a string I don't carry and you already own it. That's a flat $45, listed under add-ons below, and it covers the whole job. Next day is +$15, same day +$30.

If the goal is a specific string rather than a specific set, ordering it is usually the better path. It costs about the same, it adds a few days, and it means I inspected the string and stand behind it.

What I need from you: a full unopened set. I'll inspect it before I take the racquet and I'll tell you then if I won't install it. I decline string that has been sitting for years, because it goes brittle whether or not the package was opened. Natural gut and other delicate strings need special handling, and I'll say up front if a rush window isn't right for it. Replacement of customer-supplied string damaged during installation is not guaranteed.

Should I buy a stringing machine so I can string my own racquet?

If you play tennis for a living and travel most weeks, maybe. Entry-level drop-weight machines start around $150, but a machine that pulls tension the way mine does, electronic constant-pull, starts north of $2,000, plus a mount, clamps, and a real time investment to learn.

If you're a recreational or high school player restringing every few weeks, the math doesn't work. String twice a month with Belle's and you're paying around $1,300 a year. A $2,000+ constant-pull machine doesn't pay for itself at that pace, and a $150 machine won't give you a better string bed than dead strings did. It pays for itself for someone stringing dozens of racquets a year, not a handful.

There's also the learning curve. My first racquet took over four hours. The knots were ugly. I made a mess of it. Getting to a consistent, accurate string bed takes real practice, and a bad string job can hurt your play more than dead strings ever would.

If you're stringing a few times a year, a machine is a bigger investment than the problem calls for. That's what I'm here for.
